This will be my 8th year in education! Where does time go, feels like just yesterday that I was heading off to college to start my life!!!
Quick history of my teaching career. My first 5 years of teaching I taught third grade in a classroom that was 33 feet by 66 feet, one long big rectangle. I learned quickly that college did not prepare me for the group of kids I had in my classroom. God is amazing and gave me a wonderful co-worker, we were both first year teachers and we were ready to change the world. I believe that we survived our first year only because we had each other. After 5 years in the same classroom the school district I work for decided to move our campus (Pre-K through 3rd) to a different building that housed 4th - 6th. I continued to teach third grade but now in an awesome classroom. My awesome classroom did not mean I was going to have an awesome year. It was year 6 of teaching and it was by far my hardest year. Between behavior problems, transitioning to a new campus and learning the new coworkers personalities year 6 was a struggle! (But I made it!) After year 6 of third grade I talked my admin into letting me move down to 2nd grade! (I had been trying since year 3) With a lower grade level came a tiny classroom. The tiny classroom really made me stretch my creative side, it was great and I loved every minute of 2nd grade (even though I was extremely sick with baby #3). We are now entering year 8 of teaching and I am heading back to 3rd grade. Another 2nd grade teacher and I decided we would like to move to 3rd with our students and continue where we left off. I have mixed feelings about heading to third grade. Third grade is a lot of work (like every grade level) but I am super excited to have the same kids I had last year this year!
I am not sure how I am going to use this blog, but I love my computer and I love to create things for lessons so perhaps I will share :)
